Children at primary school are subject to continual formal assessments by teachers throughout their time in school in EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Children in Year 6 take part in formal, statutory tests towards the end of Year 6, usually in the second week of May. These tests assess the children’s performance in reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS) and mathematics. On occasions, children may be dis-applied from sitting the tests due to special educational needs or exceptional circumstances.
Writing is assessed separately through a portfolio of worth through the year via teacher assessment.
